Without further adieu. Potato:

We both think it turned out hilarious and we had a blast making it and editing it. We made the whole thing from start to finish in just a couple of hours. In addition, we also came up with some more ideas so expect some more quick shorts from us in the future!

Here’s a quick rundown of a chat Mr. Anderson-Coovert and I had last night:

JP: Steam says you’re playing Adobe After Effects
Me: That’s right!
JP: I don’t get it, how does it know?
Me: I figured I’d add it as a third-party “game” because I’m always “playing” it so much. And, of course, I’m winning.
JP: Haha! Badass, dude. This is why we’re friends!

This is Tiffany’s dog, Diamond who lives with us in our apartment with our 3 other cats.

This past Sunday, JP, Tiffany, D and myself were gearing up to play some Left 4 Dead 2 and we realized that Tiffany didn’t have a headset to talk to us all with. She just built a new desktop and all the other times we played together before, she just used my laptop which had a built-in microphone.

So, in the middle of the game, D realizes something: “Oh! She can just use one of the Rockband Microphones!” A good enough idea, so I take off my headset and set it on my desk and go out in the living room to grab her a mic. This is where Diamond comes in…

She decided to follow me out in to the living room, as most dogs tend to do, only she got herself slightly tangled* in the cord to my headset. *Side note: when Diamon gets remotely stuck in anything, she violently freaks out. So I’m out in the living room and I hear a bunch of yelping and then a huge crash. I run back into the bedroom to see what happened and there’s my headset, completely destroyed. I’m talking headphone part is all out of place and the cord is torn right out of the body.

So I sit down and type to JP, who is still waiting, “Now I don’t have a microphone…” :p

I’m surprised to see how many people still put this number on their business cards. It seems like such an antiquated technology that really doesn’t have it’s place anymore.

I thought for a minute that maybe in an office setting they might be relevant… but then I thought, “wait a second… I work in an office and I’ve never even heard the thing go off.

It’s just like when I was in middle school: I never used a floppy disk to save my projects because it seemed so stupid to me. Standard floppys at the time could hold 1.44mb of data and the most e-mails services would give you at least that much for an attachment limit.

Get with the times!

Every now and then, we’ll catch her knocking something around the apartment or chasing after Keymaster but it doesn’t happen very often.

Introduce catnip into the equation and it’s a pretty different story. She gets all nuts and her pupils get really huge and she just gets REALLY into whatever she’s doing.

When I brought that cardboard scratcher home, after rubbing herself on it for a good while, she then spent about 30 minute licking the exact same spot on it. She managed to put a pretty good dent into it from all the licking.

And yes, that’s Parappa the Rapper in the background!

So what is it about catnip that makes most cats go nuts? Well, here’s a Wikipedia article on Nepeta, the class of plants that is generally called catnip.

“nepeta pleasantly stimulates cats’ pheromonic receptors, typically resulting in temporary euphoria.”

“Catnip has nepetalactone, a terpene… the nepetalactone binds to one or more olfactory receptors where it probably mimics a cat pheromone”

Once again it seems as if another year has given us the slip. Did 2009 feel like it went by too fast? Yes.

Just like I said it last year, it seems like everyone says that about every year:
“is it really [insert year] already?”

The way I see it, time is always whizzing by and it’s all relative. These days, a year doesn’t seem like much anymore because you have so many under your belt. If this is true, when I’m 50, will each year feel half as short? I hope not.

A lot happened this year, though. An amazing amount of things, actually.

To name a few; we got a trampoline, I learned how to make delicious curry, I had my first art exhibition in a gallery setting, Keymaster was born, I graduated, I met Tiffany, started taking a dance class, moved into a new place, did my first paid freelance job (whoo!), went to Dragon*Con, Went to Jacksonville, got to know both of my last grandparents a little better, and saw 2 great concerts. There’s so much more, though.

I always learn so much about myself and everyone else around me. I gained new appreciation for things and lost appreciation for others but that’s life. Always has been, and always will be.

In regards to last year’s post: am I any better at the drums? No, not really… but that doesn’t bother me. I’m sure I’ll get to it eventually. 2010 could be full of surprises. I have no idea what’s going to happen.

I wish I could work at College Humor

I don’t have too much time to talk about it but the pictures speak pretty strongly of the happenings that weekend.

I carved a pumpkin again this year (4 year streak, baby!) and went with a video game theme again. Does it match last year’s pyro-pumpkin? I don’t think so but I like it anyways.

The party was lots of fun. me and Phil had a good time covering ourselves in paint. We started a bonfire using the fire pit they made and roasted some brats and such. It was freezing outside but the fire made it tolerable. Adam showed up and his costume was hilarious. If anyone ever told you that they wanted to be the hook to a song for Halloween, you’d tell them they were an idiot..but Adam pulled it off very gracefully.

We played Rock Band all costumed up which was cool. Jen and a few of her friends showed up with was really cool. She pretty much had to to show everyone her Little Sister costume featuring the ADAM syringe that Marcus made for her. Both of them did a fantastic job.

The Fair was lots of fun too. I didn’t go on the zipper this year so I didn’t get totally messed up. D must have been having an off night cause he didn’t quite make it. Poor guy yakked a few times. One too many spinny rides back to back.

All in all it was a fantastic weekend, something I haven’t had the benefit of enjoying for a looooong time so I really needed it.

This is hilarious, and I want more people to do stuff like it

Ok, funny story time.

I’m in the Intro to Craft class this semester and right now we’re doing yarn weaving on a loom to create tapestries. We were given these weaving needles to use and they’re pretty huge. (as far as needles go). Well, today I was in a hurry to get out of there to get to my Design club meeting so I was moving very quickly. My storage cabinet is at the very bottom of the column and, literally, at floor level. After shoving my stuff into it, I noticed the needle rolling out as I was getting up so, being in a hurry, I quickly grabbed it to toss it back in.

After it left my hand, the eye end of it got caught on the top of my cabinet, halting the trajectory of the needle. Here’s the problem : My hand was still moving from the momentum of the toss. The now stationary needle was able to drive itself into my still moving hand right through the skin on my middle finger which, really, is quite impressive because the needle isn’t exactly sharp. In fact, it’s “point” is quite rounded.

It didn’t hurt or anything but it really caught me by surprise as I had no idea what had just happened. I looked at my hand to see the needle held in place by my skin.

Needle ► skin ► needle ► BLOOD

Lots of it. It’s pretty funny how much it bled cause it really didn’t hurt. The sight of it made me crack up, though.
